Yomi Amosu Foundation Presents Scholarship and Learning Materials to Students in Badagry

Yomi Amosu Foundation (YAF) on Thursday 26th November 2020 presented Ten Thousand Naira each and learning materials to 100 primary and secondary school pupils in Badagry to support their educational pursuit as part of its Primary/Secondary Education (PSE) Scholarship 2020.

The event which held right in front of the Akran’s palace at Jegba Quarters had in attendance 100 students drawn from eight quarters in Badagry town and their parents/guardian, who came with them to receive the scholarship.

Founder of YAF, Engr. Abayomi Amosu, stated that the scholarship programme is an initiative birthed to assist and empower pupils and students who desire to have a proper and quality education, but because of certain life circumstances, they are left with no choice than to manage and scale through school in very unbalanced and unsettled circumstances.

“The event recognizes the challenges the leaders of tomorrow are facing. Education is one component that can destroy poverty for life and some people have being oppressing and enslaving us, making us not to have access to quality education. But today, we are laying another foundation to fight against poor education in Badagry.”

“After series of research carried out, we have found out that there are some students who don’t go to school because of Two Thousand Naira worth of books or uniform they could not afford. This foundation is about providing a token to support the need for books so that these leaders of tomorrow seated here can have access to books so that they can compete favourably with their counterparts outside there,” he added.

In his remarks, the Akran of Badagry, De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi 1 ably represented by the Baale of Topo charged parents and guardians of the beneficiaries to make good use of the money, to ensure the children have a better tomorrow.

“Please, you parents that have benefitted from the scholarship. I want you to make good use of what has been given to you, let today be in your record because of tomorrow. Help these children to see the impact in education.” He said

“YAF has been a foundation in Ikorodu carrying out lots of activities but being a Badagrian, the Founder is trying to replicate what he is doing in Ikorodu at home. Fortunately, he is the Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman of BYM. So in collaboration, we have this scholarship and it is going to be a quarterly program,” Chairperson of Badagry Youth Movement (BYM) and leader of the volunteer team, Comr. Temitope George said.

Responding, the Chairman, Community Development Association, Jegba Quarters, Prince Sunday Toyon appreciated YAF Foundation for the scholarship adding that it is an encouragement to parents in training their children and also a motivation for the children to succeed in their educational pursuit. He also called on sons and daughters of the soil who are prosperous in their respective fields of endeavor to emulate such gesture by giving back to the society.
