Samola Promises Improvement in Cemetery Services and Facilities

The Chairman, Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Hon. Samson Forunso (Samola) has promised to improve on the structural facilities and management of cemeteries across the Local Council Area.

This was revealed in a meeting that came up with the Cemetery Caretakers at the Council Chamber of the LCDA on Monday 3rd February 2020.

According to a statement released by the Special Adviser to the Chairman on Information, Mr. Adeosun Abdulwahab, Hon. Samson has promised to improve on the security by fencing the cemeteries and providing security personnel, ensuring cleanliness and hygienic maintenance, proper management among others. He thereby urge the public to desist from burying deceased persons in residential areas.

“We were able to make important decisions among which is how to properly implement the already existing rule forbidding people from burying the deceased just anywhere not in residential homes and definitely not anywhere but the cemeteries”. He said.

He therefore urged representatives of each Community to be vanguard of the government by taking the resolutions reached at the meeting to their communities noting that every law made by the government is for the interest of the public.

Reacting, one of the representatives from Ilogbo-Eremi kingdom, Mr. James Emmanuel expressed optimism over the resolutions and plight of the Council Chairman to rescue the cemeteries from dilapidation and pointing out the unworthy state of the cemeteries.

Also, another representative, Mr. Telli Subairu applauded the decision of the council chairman to wade in and save the cemetery from deterioration and also calling on all and sundry to adhere to the resolutions.
