The Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, Hon. Samson Olatunde (SAMOLA) has intervened in the on-going crisis in Ilado Community of the LCDA by holding a meeting with two sects at odds on Wednesday 2nd September 2020.
This was made known in a press statement released by the Media-aide to the Chairman, Farayola Olusegun and co-signed by the Special Adviser on Information, Adeosun Abdulwahab.
The meeting which was held at the Council Chamber, Iworo, was aimed at settling the crisis and restoring peace to the community.
According to the statement, the crisis was said to have arise due to conflict of beliefs regarding community leadership, stewardship and inclusiveness, which has led to rancor between members of the community. This therefore has been calling for quick intervention, thereby prompting the meeting to focus on finding a middle ground between the sects.
It was gathered that, the Leader of the House, Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Idowu Awotunde gave a brief background of the community, highlighting the remarkable peaceful nature that has overtime been associated with the community.
“From the time of our fathers, up till recent times, Ilado community has always been one of the communities known to enjoy peace. It is sad that we now allow that to be compromised. The truth is that the community is due for some growth and benefits, but at this rate, there is a lot more to lose than we can imagine.” He said
He thereby concluded by pleading with the Council Chairman to ensure the restoration of peace to the community.
Corroborating the above, the Special Assistant on Chieftancy Affairs to the Chairman, Enoch Jimoh, stated that the people of Ilado community have been identified by himself as one united and loving family, adding that the concerned groups should heed to the words of the chairman and allow peace to reign.
The Chairman pointed out the lasting effect of crisis on any community, thereby advising the leaders of the community to effect the conclusions reached at the meeting.
“Every choice comes with its consequence. I implore you to give peace a chance. We have reached some conclusions here today, please go back home and effect them. We don’t want to hear of this crisis again. With our resolutions here, go back and restore Ilado to the peaceful community we have come to know.” He said
