The Chairman Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Mr. Samson Folorunso Olatunde (Samola) has extended the distribution of free face masks to the council staff, police and other security agencies in the council area.
Speaking yesterday at the distributon exercise, Mr. Samson said the initiative is a replication of the Babajide Sanwoolu-led Lagos State Government’s “MASK-UP LAGOS” that has seen the state government facilitate the distribution of nose masks across the State in a bid to curb the community spread of the Coronavirus particularly as the federal and state government has eased lockdown in the state.
This is coming on the heels of the activation of the Mask-Up Olorunda initiative on Monday 27th April, 2020 in a modest ceremony that saw members of the Executive and Legislative arms of the government as well as Special Assistants to the Chairman and principal officers of the Council being the first recipients. And a council-wide distribution on Saturday 2nd May, 2020.
Appreciating the Council Chairman on behalf of the entire workforce, Mr. Fashina thanked Hon. Samola for his constant display of concern for the welfare of members of staff as well as the palliatives extended to members of staff during the total lockdown.
“I appreciate the Chairman for the gesture bestowed on the workforce to safeguard the health of members of staff. We also want to thank him for the support he extended to us through the palliatives (relief packages). We are very grateful and thank him for always looking out for us” he said.
In a brief chat with the media, the Chairman said “A lot is expected of our security agencies and the workforce. They put themselves out there everyday and that adds up to exposure. But with the nose masks, we are reducing their level of exposure significantly. I urge the people to remember them in their prayers. This is humanity’s fight as a whole. It affects us all.”
