Police Arrest Traffic Robbers on Lagos-Badagry Expressway

The Lagos State Police command has intercepted and foiled the activities of the suspected traffic robbers who have been terrorising commuters on the Mile 2 to Badagry Expressway.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Bala Elkana who confirmed the arrest yesterday, stated that at about 10:20pm on Monday, a police team from Okokomaiko police station on surveillance patrol intercepted a gang of suspected traffic robbers at the Cassidy bus stop, Okokomaiko.

Elkana pointed out that, the suspects on sighting the police patrol van, opened fire on it which was returned by the police team and one of the suspected hoodlums was injured and two arrested.

Reports states that the arrested suspects were identified as Adigun Ganiyu and Lukman and in the cause of the gun battle, one was wounded why others took to their heels.

“Ganiyu confessed that their gang was responsible for series of traffic robberies along the said expressway. The suspect is helping investigators will useful information about his fleeing colleagues”. He stated.

According to report, one double-barrelled gun, one live cartridge, two expended cartridges and a motorcycle used by the hoodlums was recovered.
