Patrick Seubo Koshoni, Former Chief of Naval Staff Dies at 77

The death has been announced of a former Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Patrick Seubo Koshoni

The naval chief reportedly died on 25th of January 2020 after a brief illness.

Seubo was born in Lagos on 11th April 1943. He joined the Navy on the 11th June 1962, after his secondary education at St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos State.

He was a former Minister for Health during General Buhari’s military administration.

He was a member of the Supreme Military and Federal Executive Councils from January 1984 – August 1985. During his tenure as the Chief of the Naval Staff, he led initiatives for the articulation of Nigeria’s foremost maritime strategy; the Nigerian Navy Trident Strategy and helped to institutionalise the Presidential Fleet Review, Manpower Rationalization for the Service and the Chief of Naval Staff’s Annual Conference, which has continued to serve as a veritable platform for strategic engagement and policy review.

He is his survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Koshoni; children; and grandchildren.
