Onilude Presents N2.9Billion 2022 Budget to the Legislative Council

The Executive Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area, Mr. Olusegun Onilude on Friday 11th February 2022 presented a N2,907,147,155.59 proposed budget for year 2022 to the Legislative arm of the council.

The Chairman while delivering his address during the budget presentation, reiterated the commitment of his administration towards ensuring the development of infrastructural facilities for Badagrians, adding that the target of his second tenure is to build on the legacy of the previous years.

“It is the strong conviction of our administration to strike for a workable balance among competing interests that requires a combination of diplomacy, tact, discussions, consultations, compromise concessions and above all, flexibility, to the good people of Badagry Local Government Area, where public infrastructures, works and Local Government services are efficiently and effectively delivered. I am hereby delighted to be before you today to present a budget that will fulfill the yearnings of the grass root people of Badagry Local Government.

“Our administration in the last one year opted by choice for programmes and projects with the greatest positive impacts on the generalities of the people of the Local Government. And we have sought to build on the worthy legacy of previous years’ budgets. The policy thrusts of this year’s budget is themed: Budge of Optimizing Revenue”.

Information gathered by CityMood Correspondent shows that the budget of N2,907,147,155.59 is subdivided into the following; Personnel Cost(Teachers salaries inclusive) is 960,200,000.00; Overheads and Statutory deductions at N991,778,976.37 and capital: Non-Current Assets (NCA) and Social Service Expenditure (SSE) at 955,168,179.22 respectively.

In his remarks, the Leader of the Legislative Council, Mr. Taofik Akindele commended the Chairman for the previous year’s achievement in delivering the dividends of democracy to Badagrians, stressing that the Legislature will be committed to passing the proposed budget into workable law for the year.

“I commend you for presenting this year 2022 appropriation Bill in good time to enable the Council commence work on the proposed budget as expected. I want to assure you that the Legislative Council will remain committed and work assiduously to pass the bill into law within the shortest possible time.

“This House commends you on many significant projects that were embarked upon in the last administration. These are laudable projects that will undoubtedly bring dividends of democracy to our people. It is very important therefore, that the year 2022 budget should target at the completion of these projects in order to ensure the electorates and potential beneficiaries of such monumental projects begin to reap the benefits of it in good time”. He said.

It could be recalled that the budget presentation ought to have taken place prior to this date, on the 8th of February 2022. However, according to the information gathered from the two parties, it couldn’t hold due to bridge in communication.

Dignatories present at the budget presentation are: the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Bonus Solomon; the Aholu of Agamathen Kindom, HRM Aholu Agano Toniyon 1; the Aholu of Ikoga Zebbe Kingdom, HRM De-Ovitotde Toyi 1; High Chief Jegen of Badary Kingdom; the Apex leader of APC in Badagry, Dr. Sunny Ajose; and other notable party leaders amongst others.
