Onilude Pledges to Restore Hope and Happiness in Badagry Correctional Center

The Chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Lagos State, Mr. Olusegun Onilude on Tuesday 8th December 2020 has pledged to restore hope and put happiness on the faces of the inmates and officers in charge of Badagry Correctional Center.

According to the press statement released by the Information Unit of Badagry Local Government Area, the Chairman made this known when he, alongside his Chief of Staff, Mr. Yahaya Lateef and the Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Risikat Padonu-Hassan paid a courtesy visit to the center.

“The number one citizen of Badagry was not happy with some of the facilities he met on ground such as the broken pipes leading to the drainages, old system of cooking, not enough bed in the clinic, and their vocational training rooms didn’t have sufficient tools for inmates. They also have issues with some of their vehicles for transporting inmates for court days.

“The chairman Badagry Local Government promised to assist restore hope and happiness on the faces of the inmates and the officers guarding them by making adequate changes to the problems that was discovered. Hon. Onilude also shared with them the story of Nelson Mandela and his 27yrs imprisonment and that they shouldn’t condemn themselves and believe in hope of the future,” the statement reads.

Reports revealed that the Controller in charge of the center, ACC Sanni Ojo Richard appreciated the chairman’s visit and provision of food items for the inmates of the center. He further lauded his promise to help in provision of infrastructures and training items needed at the centre.

On behalf of the inmates of the center, the head of inmates thanked the chairman for his visit and gift.
