NFLV Director Meets With French Ambassador to Improve Relationship Between the Two Institutions


The Director of Nigeria French Language Village (NFLV), Ajara, Badagry, Prof. Lateef Ayeleru has met with the French Ambassador, Mr. Jérôme Pasquier, in Central Business District, Abuja, Nigeria, last Thursday, 17th September, 2020 in a bid to improve the relationship between the French Embassy and the Inter-University Centre.


Prof. Ayeleru, accompanied by the head of NFLV Abuja Liason Office, Mrs. Sessi Fagbeji-Agemo was received by the Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs / Director of Instîtut Franҫais du Nigeria, Mr. Rafaël Pont and Mr. Benoit Billy, Linguistic Attaché / Deputy Director of the Institut Franҫais du Nigeria on behalf of the Ambassador.


While thanking the Embassy for approving the visit in spite of the prevalent global pandemic, the NFLV Boss stated that the visit is aimed at improving the relationship between the French Embassy and the Inter-University Centre. He gave the Ambassador a situation report on Language Immersion Programme for University Undergraduates and the Acculturation Programme for students of Colleges of Education.


Responding, the Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs affirmed that he came across students of the Nigeria French Language Village who testified to the quality French teaching they receive in the Nigeria French Language Village.


The discussion, which continued on Friday, 18th September at Instîtut Franҫais, Wuse 2, Abuja further touched on different areas the Embassy is prepared to collaborate with the NFLV in giving technical assistance to the teaching and learning of French as a Foreign Language in Nigeria. The embassy also hopes to reciprocate the NFLV Boss gesture by paying a courtesy visit to the NFLV in no distant time.
