
The President of Nigerian Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Hajiya Saratu Iya Aliyu has decried the bad state of Lagos-Badagry expressway, noting that it would be communicated to appropriate authorities for onward action to boost business transaction in the region.
The President made this statement during a courtesy visit to Badagry Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BACCIMA) on Friday 29th January 2021 at BACCIMA Office, FAMS Embassy Suites, Badagry Lagos State on her way back from the handing over ceremony of Federation of West African Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture.
While stating that the issue of the bad state of Lagos-Badagry Expressway and multiple checkpoint is worrisome, Hajiya Iya Aliyu said “We can see the state of Badagry Expressway, we also noticed the availability of multiple checkpoints which is not like that in other countries. We need to put all these into report and forward it to the appropriate authorities.”
She also stated that BACCIMA will always be carried along with what is happening at the headquarters to aid business growth, adding that the President of BACCIMA, Alh. Fatai Shokunbi uld compile a report of challenges facing the business community and forward such to the body for incorporation into the national report.
“NACCIMA as a body is the voice of the business people, so we will let you people know whatever is happening at the headquarters. It is left to you to come up to us to tell us what you actually need and we will solve it.” Hajiya Iya Aliyu added.
Responding, the President of BACCIMA, Alhaji Fatai Shokunbi appreciated NACCIMA President and her entourage for the visit, prayed that God will see her through her good works for promoting business activities in Nigeria and Africa, and urged her to ensure businesses thrive in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
In the same vein, the Director General of BACCIMA, Mr. Opeyemi Oke noted that it is a priviledge to have NACCIMA President in their midst, thereby appreciating her for the crucial role played in the partial re-opening of the land border.
“We want to specifically celebrate you for the role you played in the re-opening of the Land border. In the last year, the businesses of people really suffered but we are happy for the role you played for the re-opening of the border”. He said.
