The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has informed the general public that invited guests to the retirement ceremony of the Lagos State Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism Arts and Culture, Mr. Babatunde Mesewaku, scheduled for Monday 8th February 2021 has been scaled down to fifty instead of the initial one hundred guests.
According to a statement signed by Mr. Babatunde Mesewaku on Wednesday 3rd February 2021, decision to reduce the invited guests was taken at an emergency Management meeting held on Tuesday due to the rapid spread of Covid-19 pandemic in the world.
“This is as the authorities of Lagos state Government has concluded plans to ensure law enforcer do not break laws, a decision which is in tandem with Lagos order to suspend all gatherings with more than 50 people.
“However, Traditional rulers, Political class and Family members only has been considered to attend the retirement and Birthday ceremony.
“Mr. Babatunde Mesewaku hereby appeal to every other invitees who may not be able to attend the auspicious event to kindly bear with him on this development, he added that other celebrations and parties has been postponed indefinitely as options would be fully considered before arriving at a logical conclusion.” The statement reads.
