Let us Continue to Protect the Peaceful Heritage of Badagry – Solomon Bonu to Badagry Youths

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu has appealed to Badagry youths to maintain peace in the community and continue protecting the peaceful heritage of the ancient town.

This was made known in a press statement issued by the Special Adviser on Tourism Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu, recently as Lagos State witness violence arising from shooting of protesters at Lekki, Lagos

“Let me use this medium to thank you all for the emancipation of the Badagry race over the years.

“If you recollect, I was the first political appointee from Badagry that took up the fight against extortion and multiple police check points along Badagry Express Road. I even released a video clip of my encounter with the police officers at one of the checkpoints where a gun was pointed at me for challenging extortion of officers of the Nigerian Police Force on Badagry Road against all odds.

“On the State of Badagry Road, we all know that the Expressway belongs to the federal government, I can confirm to you that the Lagos State Government has been engaging the Federal Government to speed up construction works on the road.” The statement reads.

“I’m using this medium to appeal to everybody to please reduce our social media engagement so that the tension can reduce. Badagry is known to be a peaceful community, let us continue to co-exist and not relent in preaching the message of peace especially at this crucial period just as the government continue to do its bids.

“I promise to continue to engage all relevant stakeholders for growth and development of Badagry. I also expecting the Youths to come up with list of police brutality withing and around Badagry. I know that some of our youths have lost their lives to brutality by our uniform men and therefore call on everyone of us to make use of the Judicial Enquiry set up by the State Government to demand justice for these members of our community. This is the time we need to come together for constructive engagement. Let’s come together to correct this anomaly and Save our dear State.

“I’m imploring you all to please preach peach and enlighten our people. We all know that the Governor of Lagos State has no power over military officers as a whole.

“At this point, let us exercise caution and guide against the spread of fake news. We should educate our youths to desist from flagging emblem of hatred and discord through the social media. This is the time we can make use of social media to drive development to Badagry.
Let’s Protect our Heritage” The statement added.
