LASG Set to Construct General Hospital in Ojo LGA

The Lagos State Government under the administration of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu is set to construct a standard General Hospital in Ojo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.

According to a press release issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Ojo LGA, Daramola Idowu on Friday 15th January 2021, the council hosted a stakeholders meeting on community engagement on the commencement of the facility’s construction on Thursday 14th January 2021.

The statement revealed that the Chairman of Ojo LGA, Mr. Rasulu Idowu stated that the general hospital is a long time desire, adding that the people of Ojo and its environs have lost countless humans and resources in the past due to lack of comprehensive health care.

“It’s albeit the countless human and resources loss in the past with recourse by the people of Ojo and environment on the lookout for lacking comprehensive healthcare services, amid travel to Badagry and the Alimosho GH for one. But today, as formed a new dawn and I want to thank every contributors on the cause and appeal to our people to cooperate with the contractor for smooth service delivery,” he said.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi who spoke virtually via zoom due to Covid-19 pandemic and physically represented by the Director of Health, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr. Dayo Olajide noted that the facility will house three hundred (300) bed space capacity and various consulting rooms.

“He intimated the stakeholders on the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu’s plans to the realization of the project, citing huge mobilization of the contract for onward commencement at its Iweju-Afolabi Ege market area, Ojo; which faces the Badagry expressway and adjacent to Lasu – isheri road, Ojo, Lagos.

According to the commissioner, the GH is world class standard project prepared with three hundred (300) bed space capacity and other standard construction as he expressed the congratulatory message of Mr Governor to all and sundry,” the statement reads.

The contract which is handled by CIBA Construction Company will last for 24 months and will consists of 300 beds, Laboratories, Accident and emergency ward, Pharmacy, Various consulting rooms from general outpatient department, Medical outpatient department,Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, Surgical department, Paediatrics department, Eye and Dental departments, Various imaging rooms from Ultrasound, CT Scan, ECG, X-Ray, and Mammography and Other facilities such as; morgue, staff residential apartments, central store, restaurant, and maintenance yard.

“Engr. Josiah Samuel, the managing director, CIBA construction company ltd commends the Governor for the giant strides, he gives assurance of his company’s readiness to work professionally with stakeholders in line with plans and deliver according to the deeds of the contract,” the statement added.

The Chairman of Oto Awori LCDA, Prince Musibau Asafa, during the vote of thanks on behalf of Ojo, Iba and Oto Awori Council Areas, added that the construction of the General Hospital is long overdue and has come to reality due to the Governor’s intervention.
