The Lagos State Government has disclosed that its newly constructed theatre in Badagry will open to the public by December for use during the festive period.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde disclosed this during an inspection tour of State projects in Badagry, alongside top government officials including Mr. Solomon Bonu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Arts and Culture.
Ayinde explained that the present administration is very keen on the rapid development of Badagry due to its inherent tourism potentials as well as being the gateway to Nigeria.
According to him, “The aim of the visit to Badagry is to inspect as well as determine the status of State projects in the area. The inspection exercise would give us a firsthand experience about these projects in order for the team to properly brief the government on what needs to be done”.
The first point of call during the tour was former Lagos State VIP Charlet site in Badagry which was demolished by the past administration for construction into a modern Five-Star Hotel.
The team also inspected the Badagry General Hospital, the ongoing road construction at Samuel Ekundayo Road along Ansar-Ud-Deen Secondary School, the proposed site for the new Oba Akran’s Palace at Oko-Alubosa in Badagry town as well as Marina Waterways and Jetty areas.
Also on the inspection team were the Special Adviser on Works, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Olujimi Hotonu and Permanent Secretary, Office of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Seyi Whenu, amongst others.
They were joined by the Chairman, Badagry Local Government, Mr. Segun Onilude.
