The Lagos State Government has announced that there will be traffic diversion from the major carriageway to the service lane on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Saturday, 9th November to Sunday, 10th November 2019, to enable the contractors launch beams at the Alakija Interchange Bridge along the road.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, who disclosed this today, appealed to motorists and road users on the axis to bear with the State government as the measure was necessary for the speedy delivery of the road construction project.
She explained that the affected area would be the segment 2 of Lot 2A (Agboju – Trade Fair) inward Badargy only, as the Lagos bound traffic is not affected, imploring motorists coming from Agboju to Trade Fair to make a detour before the Alakija flyover into the service lane and exit into the main carriageway after the Alakija interchange to continue their journey inward Badagry.
According to her, “To effectively manage traffic and reduce the impact of the diversion on road users, palliative works have been carried out on the bad sections of the road such as the intersection into the service lane before Alakija flyover; the junction between the access road into Festac at the 3rd Gate and the intersection after the Alakija interchange into the main carriage lane from the service lane”.
While appealing to all motorists and commuters to obey and follow all directional signs put in place to aid their movements, Engr. Adeyoye stated that the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) officials and other security personnel will be on ground to ensure the free flow of traffic.
