A political group, Onilude Progressive Movement (OPM) on Thursday 24th February 2021 formally launched an independent re-election campaign for Mr. Olusegun Onilude as Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area.

The Chairman of OPM, Mr. Senapon Meiha while speaking at the event stated that, the movement has been working behind closed doors for years, noting that it has come to limelight in due time, especially as the tenure of the local government chairmen is winding up across the state.
According to him, the group cuts across the ten wards in the council area, with coordinators, secretaries and other members comprising of both male and female who are ready to working to recruit others for the re-election bid of Mr. Onilude.
“OPM has been in secret for years, now it has come to the public and the body cut across the Ten Wards with coordinators, secretaries and other ten members each, who are working to bring others on board.
“We are glad that the Chairman allowed us to unveil the group today and are ready for work. We have qualified calibers of people. When opponents hear of the various groups working for him, they will bow. We have lots of things to unveil today such as banners, campaign vehicle and other materials”. He said.
Responding, Mr. Olusegun Onilude appreciated the team for their support, stressing that God has raised them to be of support at such a time, as he prayed God reward their effort with success.
“I will thank everybody that has contributed in one way or the other to ensure the event is achieved. Those who leave everything to God will always see the hand of God in everything. God does all things and he is behind everything and God is using you people today.
“We have tried to put human angle in our style of administration. We’ve done specifically something that can bring succor and relieve to the people. We have brought many people on board compared to the previous administration and the importance of continuity is to ensure the majority benefit from the administration”.
Mr. Onilude further stated that though it is generally believed that Late Baba Kiki Whenu had done the best in terms of infrastructure development in the council area, his administration has set the late council Chairman’s tall achievement as a benchmark that his administration is hoping to meet and surpass.
