FTRA, Amuwo Odofin Donates ₦750, 000 to Electrocuted EKEDC’s Staff

Festac Town Residents Association (FTRA), Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area has donated the sum of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦750, 000) to an electrocuted staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), recently.

It can be recalled that the victim, Rufus Oyekunle, was electrocuted while working on a faulty transformer in Festac town, 1st of July 2020, which led to his left hand amputated and the right one, terribly injured, as he is struggling to move it.

The Nation newspaper reported that the president of FTRA, Shola Fakorede, while presenting the cheque of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦750, 000) to the electrocuted official at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), explained that the incident happened when Oyekunle was rectifying a fault in a transformer and therefore, shouldn’t be abandoned with his problem.

“We have come here to pay a visit and to show that we care. The money we are giving him is to support his medical bills. This is with the understanding that he might have spent a lot going from one hospital to another. This is a token of our appreciation of his service to our community and to cushion the effects of what he and his family have been passing through since July.” He said.

Fakorede described Oyekunle as a hardworking staff, who never hesitated to attend to any electrical faults in the community, thereby stressing that the token was necessary to reciprocate his good deeds.

Oyekunle and his wife in response appreciated FTRA for the donation and prayed that God will reward them.
