Customs Shot Children, Aged 9 and 10 in Badagry-West

Stray bullets from shots fired by men of the Nigeria Customs Service have hit two children, Ganjo Henry ‘9’ and Hunsu Taiwo ’10’ in Oglogbo area of Badagry West Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, yesterday.

Witnesses reports say the Customs officials had responded to activities of illegal petroleum products export within the area, and had shot sporadically in the air even when the operation was concluded unhindered.

Stray bullets from the shots fired had hit the two children who were playing with other children within the area, multiple witnesses say.

Residents bemoan the activities of customs officials within the border communities as they claim several lives have been lost and bodies decapitated to customs high-handedness in tackling illegalities in the border communities of Badagry-West LCDA.

Reports say the children are responding to treatment in a private hospital within the community.
