
The Chairman of Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos State, Mr. Rasulu Olusola Idowu and his wife Alhaja Abimbola Rasulu Idowu on Thursday 24th December 2020 held gifting merriments with senior citizens in the area, as he hosts senior citizens for the first time in the area.
This was revealed in a press statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Daramola Idowu on Friday.
The annual gifting with senior citizens tagged ‘Golden Aged Smiles’ was as a result of the chairman’s care for the aged citizen welfare and well-being.
“At the opening speech, the wife of the Mayor, Alhaja Rasulu-Idowu expressed happiness despite the scourge of COVID-19 to be reunited with some longtime communal parents of old age, among who join moulded and contributed to her moral Uprightness and virtues, which she’s Celebrated for, today, as a mother. She appreciated them and concluded with praise song, ‘Oye ka dupe.” The statement reads.
The statement also revealed that Mr. Rasulu Olusola congratulated the elders for been privileged to be among the living, adding that the programme is established on the basis of one of his administrative cares for the elders and senior citizens.
“Speaking further, he intimated the public on the programme’s adjustment from partying to low key gifting outing at the launching of the initiative, due to State’s directive on gathering against COVID-19 guidelines. And the shortlisted are septuagenarian and above.
More than a hundred numbers of the elders went home with special food packs and cash gifts envilopes, as the program ended at the Secretariat premises with prayers, and appreciation from all beneficiaries,” the statement concluded.
“Wishing you sound health and more years of healthy celebration head in your old age,” the chairman reportedly said.
