The Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Lagos State, Hon. Olusegun Onilude, has presented certificate of commendation to Tourism Experts in the area, in appreciation of their continuous efforts towards putting Badagry at the forefront of Tourism in Nigeria.
The presentation, which was done during the Tourism Stakeholders Meeting, yesterday 15th October 2020 at the Council Secretariat, was anchored by the Supervisor for Tourism and Environment, Prince Samson Apata, alongside his colleagues, Mr. Akojenu Emmanuel (Supervisor for Agriculture & Social Development), Mr. Gbewa Sunday (Supervisor for Budget, Statistics & planning) and the Tourism Officer of the Local Government Miss Oke Kehinde, on behalf of the Chairman who was away on an official assignment.
The Supervisor for Tourism and Environment, in the meeting stated that tourism is the only industry Badagry has, stressing that everybody must come together to make it grow.
“Collaboration is key in Tourism industry, tourism is the only industry Badagry has.
Tourism can only grow if we come together to do it with sincerity and sacrifice.
“The time is now to change the narrative, to use tourism as the Midas touch to see Badagry turn around economically and socially”. He said.
In the same vein, Mr Peter Olaide-Mesewaku of the Lagos State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Tourism and the Curator, Badagry Theatre, reiterated that “there should be synergy between the Local Government and Tourism Experts to bring about holistic development”
