Chairman, Badagry Local Government, Mr. Olusegun Onilude today, 14th September 2020 held the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a N214million worth new administrative building for the Local Government.

The event which came up at the Local Government Secretariat had in attendance the Akran of Badagry, HRM, De Wheno Aholu Menu Toyi 1 who laid the foundation of the building, and other traditional rulers in the Local Government Area.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Onilude revealed that the construction of a befitting administrative block for the Local Government is pertinent to his administration to meet with the present standard.

He said, “When we took over the reins of this Local Government, the project that was very dear to my heart is what we are doing today; construction of a befitting administrative block for Badagry Local Government.

“Some people told me there was a time our former Governor was here when he was still the Governor, he had gotten the priviledge of working in Badagry before then. He came one night when we were about to start some roads around this place and he peeped at this Local Government Secretariat and was disappointed at its stagnant condition”.

Onilude therefore assured the public that the project has the time frame of 18 months to be completed, stressing that the council has taken its time to plan properly and make provision for the project.

He further stated that his administration has completed a number of other projects since inception which include the legislative block in the Secretariat, construction of Sunny Ajose Road at Ajara Agamathen, construction of Agonkameh Road, L.A Primary Schools Iyafin, and renovation of Palace Road among others

Explaining further, he noted that his administration is concerned about giving Badagry infrastructural turnaround as the Local Government is lagging behind in terms of infrastructural development.

“Our concern is to give infrastructural face-up to Badagry Local Government, if there is anything we are so deficient in Badagry, it is about our infrastructure. I want to tell you that all these jobs I have mentioned were not done by developers. We gave all of them to contractors and they started them and finished them.”

Stressing that at the completion of the project, two other projects are coming up beside the administrative block which are Badagry City Mall and Children Recreational Centre.

In the course of the event, the Council Chairman through Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Department gave out the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000) cash each to Twenty-Five (25) selected people from the Ten wards in the Local Government Area.

The Supervisor for WAPA, Mrs. Risikat Hassan while speaking noted that the Chairman has deem it fit to extend the good gesture to indigent people in the community, stressing that the welfare of the people is of utmost importance to the administration of Mr. Olusegun Onilude.
