Badagry Youth to Benefit N1million from Equip Africa/Rak Foundation Startup Challenge


Equip Africa, a human capital and social development organization has announced a N1million Startup Challenge for young business owners and prospects in Badagry, Lagos State.

Executive Director of the organisation, Mr. Opeyemi Oke says his outfit is partnering Real Act of Kindness (RAK) Foundation to initiate a post Covid-19 business startup/recovery intervention program for youths especially in the Badagry area of Lagos State.

“Our approach to solving socio economic problem in Africa is matching local talents to local assets to create scalable businesses. When you create scalable businesses, you are able to creat job opportunities for young people” Mr. Oke said.

He told CityMood that the business pitch competition is open to young people, not more than 35years old, with new or existing business ideas.

Accepted applicants would be required to undergo a fully sponsored bootcamp with distinguished facilitators from within and outside the country, who would train successful applicants on the fundamentals of running a successful business.

The bootcamp will culminate with the trainees pitching their ideas to a jury where eventual winner of the N1million prize will be determined.

Mr. Oke said all successful applicants are going to benefit immensely from the program particularly the quality of training that would be provided during the bootcamp.

Founder of RAK Foundation and sponsor of the Startup Challenge, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende mentioned that the funds will be properly monitored to ensure the winners implement the business idea and contribute to the development of the economy of Badagry.
