…We are Expecting a Refinery Very Soon…
The reign of the Aholu of Ajido Kingdom in Badagry Local Government Area of Lagos State, HRM Aholu Saheed Adamson Toyiaga 1, has witnessed growth and development, with an expectation to have a refinery in the near future.
Speaking with newsmen during a press briefing that held in his place on Wednesday 23rd February 2022, in commemoration of his six years anniversary, the king said the town has witnessed such monumental projects due to high expectations he has for growth and development of the community to make it at par with other communities in Lagos State and the nation at large.
According to him, the federal and state governments have been wonderful in their dealings by yielding to the course of the community through his writings, to bring infrastructural facilities to aid people’s livelihood.
“So far so good, the federal government has been wonderful, I wrote to the federal government through the Special Adviser on Infrastructure, requesting for five things, the federal government has given us water, built a 18 classroom block with 30 VIP toilets, a standard Medical Centre with Doctors Quarters and we are still expecting more.
“Thank God for the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the spirit of continuity; the state government has been wonderful too. Governor Ambode started the construction of Ajido road, Sanwo-Olu completed it, even to the jetty. We are expecting a refinery very soon, the memorandum has been signed and other things”. He added.
Commenting on the construction of Lagos-Badagry Expressway and Imeke to Aradagun road, Aholu Adamson said, “We all know what we went through on Badagry Expressway, it was an eyesore, the gateway to Nigeria has been like this for over years. We thank God for the progress in the construction work. In the last meeting held with Reps. Babatunde Hunpe, we were told that more money has been released and we can see the pace of work on the road and also from Imeke to Aradagun, we can see the work progress”.
The monarch further highlighted that though the town has witnessed series of projects during his reign such as: water, medical centre with Doctors Quarters from the federal government which is yet to be commissioned, Primary Health Centre, 18 classroom block with 30 VIP toilets, road construction, allocation of site for Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to build a community radio station, West African Gas Pipeline Clinic among others, however, he noted that the expectation is high as a refinery is among the upcoming projects and the target to develop the tourist potential of Ajido.
