The Chief Imam of Badagry Division, Sadilat Sheik Abdul Akeem Ishola Uwais Akeusola, has announced that the 2020 edition of “Ayeye Ileya” Festival Will not hold.
In a press release signed by the Chairman, Ayeye Ileya Festival Organising Committee, Badagry Division, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, the Chief Imam announced on Friday that this year’s “Ayeye Ileya” Festival will no longer hold due to the Federal Government directives on the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Badagry Muslim Community under the leadership of Chief Imam of Badagry Division, Sadilat Sheik Abdul Akeem Ishola Uwais Akeusola, extends its warmest regards to all Muslim brothers and sisters in this Ileya period.
“The Chief Imam noted that due to the Federal Government’s directives on the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Ayeye Ileya festival will no longer hold. The Ayeye Ileya festival usually takes place on the second day of Ileya Celebration.
“He therefore beseech everyone to observe the festival at home while observing social and physical distancing as well.
“The Chief Imam also prays that Allah intervene in this trying time of common humanity and hope that in the coming years, the celebration will be back to its normal self.” The statement read.
